Account & Data Deletion

The short version

Neither Islam Guidance nor IlmPath creates user accounts. There is no registration, no login, and no email or password. The website stores nothing about you. The app stores everything locally on your device. Uninstall the app and it's all gone.

Islam Guidance (the website)

The Islam Guidance website does not require an account and does not store any personal data. When you use Smart Search, your query is processed to find relevant results and then immediately discarded. We do not log searches, set tracking cookies, or create user profiles of any kind.

Because nothing is stored, there is nothing to delete. If you clear your browser cache, any locally cached page assets will be removed as well.

IlmPath (the app)

IlmPath works the same way: no accounts, no sign-ups, no personal data on our servers. All your data lives on your device. There are two ways to delete it.

Option 1: Uninstall the app

Uninstalling IlmPath permanently deletes all locally stored data, including:

  • Saved location (used for prayer times and Qibla)
  • App preferences and settings
  • Favorites and bookmarks
  • Reading history
  • Dhikr counts and prayer tracking
  • Quiz progress
  • Downloaded Quran audio files
  • Cached content

iOS

  1. Long-press the IlmPath icon
  2. Tap Remove App
  3. Tap Delete App to confirm

Android

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > IlmPath
  2. Tap Uninstall

Or long-press the icon and drag to Uninstall.

Option 2: Delete specific data within the app

If you'd rather keep the app installed, you can remove individual items:

  • Downloaded audio: Settings > Audio Downloads
  • Saved location: Clear it in the app settings
  • Favorites and history: Clear them from within the app
  • Device permissions: Revoke Location, Notification, or Motion access in your device settings at any time

What about server-side data?

We do not store personal data on our servers. The only information ever transmitted is:

  • Your device timezone (e.g., "America/New_York") to generate daily guidance, including the Islamic date. This is not stored.
  • Search text when using Smart Search on the website or in the app. This is processed in real time and immediately discarded. It is never logged or stored.

Because nothing is retained, there is nothing to delete on our end.
